Why the price changes
Season
Fruit ripens between summer and early winter. Rates are lowest at peak harvest and climb once the season ends.
Grade & size
Large, unblemished fruit with fresh green fins is priced above smaller or soft-skinned fruit.
Source
Imported fruit carries freight and cold-chain cost. Locally farm-grown fruit reaches you fresher and cheaper.
Quantity
Single-kilo buys cost more per kilo than a carton ordered for a family, shop or event.

Buying tips
- Pick fruit with bright, even skin and fins that are still green — dry brown fins mean it was cut days ago.
- It should give slightly when pressed, like a ripe kiwi. Rock-hard fruit was picked too early.
- Buy from a grower in season. Imported fruit in the off-season is where the highest prices come from.
- Keep it in the fridge and eat within a few days of delivery for the best taste.
